On 1 January, it’s time again for the annual New Year’s Day Plunge from the beach in Wijk aan Zee! This popular event attracts both locals and tourists looking to start the new year in a refreshing and energetic way.

What can you expect at the New Year’s Day Plunge in Wijk aan Zee?

• A Splashing Start to the Year: Since 2009, this tradition has grown into a spectacular and festive event where around 1,500 participants brave the icy North Sea each year.
• Cheerful Atmosphere on the Beach: Alongside the daredevils running into the water, spectators enjoy the lively atmosphere on the beach. Music, hot drinks, and lots of laughter create an unforgettable afternoon.

Programme

• 14:15: Tent opens for participants
• 14:45: Warm-up on the beach
• 14:50: Registration closes
• 15:00: Start signal: the big plunge!

• Parking: Parking is available on the Rijckert Aertszweg. If full, you can park along the field.
